Keep on truckin'

That's my motto for Evie these days. No matter what, she does her best to "keep on truckin'" and to not let anything get her down. Evie spent the day throwing up everything she ingested (and then some), we spent a few hours tonight in the emergency room after our pediatrician recommended that we get her checked out to make sure she did not need IV fluids, and yet the li'l miss still managed to give me a great big smile before falling asleep. Luckily, Evie is a big enough and strong enough little girl that we are not yet to the point of needing an IV to rehydrate her, and are hoping to be able to get (and keep) enough pedialyte down her to do the trick. Needless to say, it's been a rough few days. Evie has had two rounds of ear infections in a row, and now it appears she's got a stomach virus. We contribute her recent bout of illness to the fact that she's been going to day care, where she is exposed to many sick kids on a regular basis. While some exposure is a good thing because it helps build her immune system, Evie has been sick much too often for our liking. In light of that, and for a few other reasons, we've decided to hire a nanny who will watch Evie at our house on the days I'm at work. She will start at the end of the month, and we're very excited for the change. Hopefully, Evie will like her nanny as much as we do, will be healthier once she's out of an institutional setting, and will have fun getting lots of one-to-one attention and play time during the day. In the meantime, we just hope the li'l miss gets better soon, and stays that way!
