Words

Evie is now saying a few words on a regular basis, so I thought it would be fun to share some of them. Here's Evie's vocabulary list for the say, with some of her words written phonetically as she says them:

• hi
• bye (with a wave)
• dada
• mama
• beh-BAY (baby...she loves pointing out babies)
• kee or sitty (kitty)
• doh (dog)
• no no no
• up (although she more often signs it than says it)

Although she's quickly picking up on verbal communication, Evie still uses a lot of non-verbal communication as well. She uses sign language to tell us she's hungry and when she's all done eating, and does a lot of pointing at things she wants to see closer, and pushing away of things she's not interested in. While we're impressed by what the li'l miss is able to communicate to us, we're even more impressed by what she understands....which seems like just about everything. Ask her to go get her sippy cup from the kitchen, and she'll do it. Tell her it's time to go outside or in the car, and she'll head for her coat. When Oakley barks to come in from the backyard, Evie is the first to run to the patio door, get out the towel to wipe his paws, and then proceed to go through the ritual she'd observed for cleaning the mud and wet slush off of him. Kids really are amazing, and really do understand so much more than you'd think. It sure will be fun to help and watch the li'l miss continue to learn new things!
