March

These days, we're enjoying the warmer weather that's followed March into Wisconsin. This past week brought several days in the 40s, with a few of those being close to 50 degrees! It's funny how 50 seems so warm in the spring, yet so cold in the fall. Now that most of the ice has melted, Evie is having fun exploring the neighborhood. She stops at every neighbor's house, walks up the driveway, up the steps and once even knocked on the door. It's hilarious, but makes it hard to get very far. In 30 minutes, we can only make it about halfway down the block and back. Here are a few pics from our walk down the block:
Oakley came with us:
Unfortunately, Evie ended her walk with a face plant into the sidewalk. She didn't fall very hard, but it was enough to scrape her li'l nose:For me, one of the hardest things about parenting at this stage is learning to live with the bumps, bruises and scrapes that are bound to happen when you have an adventurous toddler. I'm trying hard not to be a "helicopter parent," the type that is constantly hovering and waiting to catch her kid before she falls, and to take the necessary precautions and then just let Evie explore. I know there's a lot to be learned from getting up after you fall. It's just very to watch! So, here's to hoping the li'l miss gets steadier on her feet soon!!!! In the meantime, I've got a cabinet full of infant tylenol, antibiotic cream and band-aids....

By the time you have your 4th kid you won't even go with for the walks, or really know where they are. Gravity and kids have been working together for a few years now, wait to not wreck it by hovering.
